Pulcino 2013

Pulcino FB

On November 1st, the Fox & Beggar Theater packed out Asheville’s Bywater Bar for four straight hours, many waiting an hour or more to get in to Pulcino: a Day of the Dead carnival.

The night was an explosion of music, art, fire, and performance. Aerialists dangled from a towering steel tripod. Lavishly decorated fire-spinners lit up the night from the performer’s stage. Facepainters painted sugarskulls in the brightly lit porch while crowds danced to live hot jazz and swing. Live painters worked under the lights of the art gallery, throngs danced in front of the beautifully decorated electronic mainstage, and six different altars dotted the yard, each crafted by a team of local artists, and each one more unique and beautiful than the last.

The Altar Design Teams were:

Madison J. Cripps & Keith Shubert
Alicia Cardina & Alina Ahh Ever
Julia Ferris & Julia Haze
Nat Allister & Erica Gunnison
Jacqueline Maloney & Maxwell Doyle
Heather Cohen & Monté St. Clair
